Using Sphagnum Moss for Growing Orchids
Growing orchids can be a tricky business. Most orchids are epiphytes, meaning they grow on other plants instead of in the ground in soil. And the other types of orchids (including terrestrial orchids (or ground orchids), and lithophytes (growing on rocks)), also don’t grow in soil. So they need different media to grow in. Their roots require air around them, and they get moisture and nutrients by sucking up water from the atmosphere, or they spread their roots over the surface they are growing on and collect water as it trickles down.
Orchids grow naturally in moss, and Sphagnum Moss is an excellent growing medium. Besgrow Spagmoss has been proven for over 30 years as an outstanding medium to grow wide varieties of orchids. Whether your orchid is very young or well established in a large pot, we have a variety of grades of moss with different lengths of strand and colour to perfectly suit your expectations and your Orchid’s demands.
